Please make sure to review and familiarize yourself with the policies of Knuckle Sandwich Massage.
Shared Office Rules
My office is located within NorthLake Physical Therapy in Lake Oswego. NorthLake and I are separate entities from each other and, as such, the following expectations apply:
- Please respect the shared spaces. When you arrive, if there is someone working the desk, you can let them know you are here to see me. Otherwise, grab some water, take a seat, and I will be out to take you back to my office shortly.
- Please avoid wandering around the NorthLake treatment floor, or utilizing any of their equipment while waiting for your appointment to begin. If you need assistance finding one of the bathrooms, please feel free to ask anyone working to direct you.
- My office hours are often opposite to the NorthLake PT hours of operation. As such, it may sometimes look as though the building is closed (especially on nights, holidays, and weekends) but I assure you, if we have an appointment set together, the door is unlocked and I am open!
The Session
These policies are stated as they relate to the session itself.
- You will only receive massage for the length of time booked. If an extension if requested and, the therapist is able to accommodate, you are responsible for paying the appropriate rate as a result of that service lengthening. If requesting a shortened session, you are still liable for the full price of the session booked, not for the length of massage received, unless stated otherwise by the practitioner.
- If you arrive late to your session, it may result in shortened hands-on time. If you are more than 15 minutes late, and have not notified the practitioner before that time, the session will be treated as a "No Call, No Show" and will be charged a fee.
- Please practice a basic hygiene regimen. Excessive dirtiness or odor may result in the session being canceled or charged an extra fee.
- Please do not come to your session if you are knowingly, or potentially may be, sick and/or contagious. If you are unsure, please reach out to the practitioner before the appointment time to discuss potential options.
- Your session is specifically for you! You do not have to tolerate anything that makes you feel uncomfortable. If there is anything needed to increase comfort during the session, please speak up about it; whether it's a change in music, level of heat on the table, level of disrobing or type of draping, or anything else.
- The practitioner will obtain full informed consent before treatment and you will not be touched in any way you do not approve of. You may revoke that consent at any time and for any reason; without being required to provide a explanation as to why. Any requests that can be accommodated to increase your comfort will be met upon request; please speak up!
- Please understand that massage is a one way street regarding touch; at no point shall you initiate contact with the practitioner. This is an appointment for platonic therapeutic touch; at no point will it involve any kind of sexual gratification or touch whatsoever. If you ask for, attempt to pursue, or initiate any physical or sexual contact with the practitioner, it will be deemed unwelcome and they will use any means deemed necessary to defend themselves. You will be blacklisted from not only Knuckle Sandwich Massage, but also in the greater Portland massage community, and your behavior and contact information will be reported to the police.
- Please understand that massage is not a means of diagnosing or treating most major medical conditions. If you have questions regarding specific health conditions that are outside the scope of practice for the practitioner, you will be referred to seeking care from a Primary Care Physician, or if needed, emergency or urgent care facility. Furthermore, please understand that massage can actually make certain conditions worse and, as such, you are expected to provide all known medical information to the clinic and practitioner. If applicable, Knuckle Sandwich Massage may request a note from your physician or a signed release of information before any service is provided.
Illness Prevention Measures
- You are welcome to wear a mask or come without one. I wear a mask during the hands-on portion of our time together simply due to the small space we will be in together for prolonged periods of time.
- If you are feeling ill at all, please call, text, or email me before your appointment notifying me that you are sick so we can reschedule your appointment at no fee, or come up with alternative solutions.
- I run an air filter in the room before, during, and after the session as well as properly sanitizing all surfaces with a liquid disinfectant and providing fresh, clean sheets for every client.
Please let me know if you have any concerns or further questions regarding the cleaning process for the massage space.
